Quiz Title!
The Lurve Quiz

In a major departure from the norm, Planet Science celebrates Valentines Day, in the style of a romantic novel!

Our Heroine is lovely
Charlotte, a structural engineer, our hero is Dominic, your classic darkly handsome architect. But will the fates ever allow them to get it together? Don’t think of it as a quiz where you stand to win a fabulous sixties style NEON HEART if you get all the answers right (it has to be seen to be believed!), think of it as a ride on a fluffy pink cloud of love. Read on as very short chapter follows very short chapter…….

Chapter One – The Meeting

Charlotte usually enjoyed her job as a structural engineer. But now she scratched her head, took off the DNKY tortoise-shell and rubbed her eyes. She blinked at the computer screen full of structural data she had to analyse by the next morning. She just couldn’t concentrate. She could only think of him… Dominic.

As she watched the rain trickle down the window she thought back to how he had looked two weeks ago, when she was first introduced to him. His dark hair, bronzed skin and deep brown eyes were irresistible; she liked a man with a lot of .

He had smiled as he explained that he was her company’s new architect on her project. She felt butterflies in her stomach as
.

Hmmm....

Chapter Two – The Blush

Apart from that initial briefing she had not said a word to him. She had tried but she couldn’t speak. It was as if her was stuffed with cotton wool. Then, last Wednesday, she had caught him looking at her in a meeting. He had half smiled as he turned away, his face reddening .

If only she could catch him alone he might, just might, ask her out. But after the incident in the cafeteria this morning, there was surely no hope of gaining his affections.

Chapter Three – That morning in the cafeteria

She had got in very early to try and catch up on work. Whilst quickly grabbing some breakfast, she'd failed to notice the ‘slippery floor’ sign where the cleaner had just mopped. The caused her to fall, catapulting her coffee across the room towards Dominic. The direct hit of scalding liquid must have hurt but he didn’t even wince. He just undid the top three buttons of his Armani shirt, giving her a glimpse of his tanned skin.

Ooops!

Chapter Four – This Evening

The night drew in as she forced herself to concentrate on the data. Suddenly, her computer screen flickered, caused by the of an incoming text message. Could it be him? No, it was her boss, Cynthia. The City sky scraper construction was at a critical stage and, distracted, Charlotte had managed to forget some vital paperwork. She agreed to bring it across to the site straight away.

The site was dark and very muddy. She stumbled more than once on the way to the sky scraper’s site office. Her Jimmy Choos were ruined. Thoroughly fed up she burst into the room, blinking as her eyes adjusted to the bright light.

The first person she saw was Dominic – smiling at her from the far side of the table. She smiled back thinking he must have forgotten the episode with the coffee already. The dawning realisation that he was only smiling because she was covered in mud made her wish that the ground would open up beneath her. But that only happens when there is
, and the only thing that was currently quaking was her knees. Muttering a few words she passed the paperwork to Cynthia and made for the door. Despite his coffee stained shirt, and her muddy appearance, he gallantly offered to escort her back to her Mini Cooper.

As Charlotte gazed up at him with thanks, she tripped and rushed towards the mud. Just as she was about to hit the ground his strong hand clasped her arm and with a flex of his
he saved her from further indignity.

He suggested that the route they were taking was too uneven and that she might fall again and hurt herself.

Chapter Five – The Rescue

He lead her towards a much flatter piece of ground, but in the dim moonlight, which is , they didn’t realise that the flat path was actually wet cement. After two steps Dominic was stuck, and sinking fast.

She knew she didn’t have the strength to pull his hunky frame from the cement alone. Fortunately there was a stack of bricks close to where he was disappearing. She struggled with a long plank of wood and placed it unevenly onto the bricks. She told him to grab the short end whilst she put her full weight on the other longer end. By using the plank to create a
she easily saved Dominic from setting his fate in concrete.

As they stood covered in mud and cement, their eyes met and their hearts leapt. It felt as if they were both floating far above with the stars. But then, that’s love for you…….

Aawww!

THE END!
