Nice graphics, fun games with the science behind them explained. Keystage 4 and GCSE pupils can test their knowledge in the online science quiz and conduct their own interactive experiments.

A good learning resource from the Guardian newspaper for GSCE homework, revision and exams and also lesson plans.

ENC: Focus

This is a free electronic magazine for science and mathematics teachers. The focus is on improving education through the use of innovative curriculum materials, technology, problem solving and inquiry. Topic areas selected from the main page are linked to a range of articles and resources. Fellow educators share their experiences and successes. Teachers looking for ideas on active learning and how to integrate Information and Communications Technology into the classroom should visit this site.

EXN: The Exploration Network

A top site for all science teachers, curriculum co-ordinators and subject specialists. The site is full of up-to-the-minute features and news from the world of science. All previous stories are archived and accessible via the site's own search engine and they run weekly votes on scientific stories of the moment.

Access excellence

This is a biology teaching and learning site offering a forum for teachers, lecturers, and researchers. There are also lesson plans.

A little disorganised but the Fun Science Gallery has a wealth of activities and information adaptable to most Key Stages. The site explains how to make fun scientific experiments and instruments and covers a wide range of areas. From creating your own telescope to performing a blood smear test, there is a lot to learn at this visually appealing site.

This is an excellent site for science teachers, being geared towards practical experiments and projects that can be done in the classroom. You can build a Buckyball, the C60 molecule, for example.

This is the lively website of a science teacher at a UK secondary school. An excellent resource, it includes downloadable content for science teaching at Key Stage 3 and 4, including spreadsheet exercises, quizzes, practice exam questions and revision tips.

The Science Spot

The Science Spot is a good resource for Key Stage 3 teachers and students. 'The Science Classroom' contains lots of lesson plans, lab ideas and free worksheets, although the site is American so some adaptation will be required.

Miami sci

This site contains a whole range of basic experiments to do with pH. Lesson plans and ideas are also available, suitable for Key Stage 3. The 'Explore' button reveals an interactive pH meter and a range of household chemicals for you to test online.

The Catalyst

This site has been developed specifically for the secondary education teacher, as a resource for finding relevant information for use in the teaching of chemistry.
