| the science museum, london The Science Museum is a fascinating place for all ages and educational abilities to visit. The museum is accessible for all wheelchair users, with most floors having lift service and access ramps. There are also disabled toilets on every floor. If you have any other needs then please feel free to contact us and we will try and accommodate you. The Science Museum welcomes visits from all Special Educational Groups and is working towards encouraging more groups to visit the museum.Special educational needs days are held once a month, usually on a Wednesday. On these days, some of the interactive galleries to SEN groups of all ages and abilities. SEN day in The Garden This event is suitable for all ages and takes place in the museum Garden, normally reserved for pupils aged 6 years and under. The indoor gallery offers sensory stimulation through the water area and exploration of light and sound. Co-ordination skills can be challenged in the building area and the gallery as a whole provides opportunities to improve language and social skills. Explainers staff the gallery. SEN day in Pattern Pod This event is suitable for all ages and takes place in Pattern Pod normally reserved for pupils aged 8 and under. The gallery offers opportunities to explore visual, auditory and tactile problems encouraging the use of skills such as repetition and prediction. The gallery also presents opportunities to improve language and social skills. Explainers staff this gallery.Drama Characters Also on these days you can request a drama presentation or a character role from our in-house drama. The actors are adept at performing for different age groups or educational levels. Science Show: Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles
This highly visual show looks at the wonderful world of bubbles, and is performed by Explainers who work in the museums interactive galleries. The show lasts 20 minutes and is suitable for all ages. These events are free, but places need to be booked in advance. Please bear in mind that these events are very popular and can fill up very quickly.
