…we’ve gone through the web and sent a load to the recycling plant. Hopefully it’ll come back as something a little more interesting…..

What we haven’t mashed as recycling waste is here for your eyes only. Remember - clean hands when using the computer.

BBC Wild Britain
Check out this lavishly illustrated romp around wild Britain, with its stunning pictures of our starring wild mammals. It covers insects, birds and plants and has 360o views of various types of habitat. This is a great animal site and makes the surfer realise just how lucky the UK is to have such lovely and, for the most part, harmless wildlife!

Exploring Biodiversity
This is a very thorough site that covers all the basics of measuring and counting the various types of wildlife you find in the UK. Its features include a postcode-search tool for UK flora and fauna, information about biodiversity and plenty of good ideas for teachers. Overall it has a calm, efficient aura and the information is displayed clearly in a series of logical pop-ups.

Biodiversity and Conservation, Hypertext Book by Peter J. Bryant
This is a brilliant resource, very comprehensive and totally interlinked. Not only does it guide you through chapters about every aspect of current conservation and biodiversity, it takes you back to the beginnings of biodiversity on Earth, including how we humans came about. Well worth a browse.

Virtual Library
This is the part of the Virtual Library project that’s devoted to ecology and biodiversity. The great thing about the VL project is an expert has already been through the sites on offer and has evaluated them so you know you are getting quality info. It is quite USA-slanted, but then it is a US project after all!

UK Biodiversity Action Plan
Great detail about the Action Plan – yes there is an action plan – for biodiversity in the UK. If you search by habitat you’ll see that the UK harbours a huge range of habitats, and then you click into each one in much more detail. This is only for people who are very serious about biodiversity, as there is a lot of information and it’s not that easy to navigate.
